ABOUT SOPHIA
The word “SOPHIA” stands for wisdom. Sophia Nursery School was established in 1971.
Founded by the Society of The Sacred Heart, an international congregation of religious sisters dedicated to the education of women. The Society of The Sacred Heart was founded in 1800 in France.
Our Principal
Our Principal Sister Charlotte is trained in Early Childhood Education and Development at the St. Margaret's Institute. She has done a course in "Special Education" and has worked with special children for 13 years. The saying "the aim of education is life itself, not just a preparation for life", truly reflects our Principal's persona. She took charge as Principal of Sophia Nursery School in 1987 and has been admirably holding the post since 34 yrs. She is the bridge between the staff, children and parents. She is the inspiration behind the running of the school, making it a warm and inviting nest for the child.
Principal's Message
Teamwork and a healthy relationship among the staff is the backbone of Sophia Nursery School and responsible for it's success. Each teacher brings in her own uniqueness, a gift, which contributes to the international body of Sacred Heart Schools. I deeply appreciate and value the staff's sense of loyalty and the commitment to work, often even beyond the call of duty.

Sophia Nursery School
Sophia Nursery School, is a school with a difference where "Learning is fun" for “the Little Ones”.
It is located within the Sophia College Campus, which is one of the premier traditional and educational institutes of Mumbai. Established in 1971, the Sophia Nursery school has a wonderful history of more than fifty glorious years. It lays the foundation of learning in the formative years of the young ones. Keeping our motto “Learning is Fun” in mind, Sophia Nursery amalgamates all the assets of the Child’s development in a manner which enables each little one to shine like a sparkling, priceless Diamond.

We orient programs essentially towards enabling the children to experience their own needs and feelings, to explore themselves and their world, and thus come into their own.
The Sophia Emblem
The Sophia Emblem is replete with ‘Indian Symbols’ Lotus petals, a ring of pearls in the heart of which lies a tree with its roots upwards. ‘Urdhva mula’, roots upwards, holds the essence of the emblem. The roots of the tree reaching upwards signifies that the origin of all life is in God.
